Matan Al haPerek
The world wide online weekly Tanakh learning program
Do you ever have the desire to open up books like Yehoshua and Shmuel that you haven't touched since grade school? Are you one of those people who decided to learn a chapter of Navi every day, made it to Yehoshua chapter 6, and never finished?
The weekly Torah reading in synagogue guides our review of the Chumash in a yearly cycle, but Navi and Ketuvim often remain neglected books. For many years, we at Matan have dreamed of creating a framework to enable the public to add independent learning to their weekly schedule. Al haPerek was created for this purpose: to enable and encourage people to learn Nach in-depth and systematically in a five-year cycle.
Once a week registered participants receive an emailed sheet containing the weekly lesson for two chapters of Nach.
Once a month, a meeting of registered participants will take place to create a support network for the independent learning.
At the completion of each book, a yom iyun (comprehensive day of learning) will take place with lectures given by some of the finest educators in Israel.
Registered participants will also receive a yearly color-print calendar on which the learning schedule, monthly meetings, and yemei iyun appear.
Our hope is that the program can benefit people in many different learning frameworks. Al haPerek can be used in a home setting with children or a spouse, in schools, in learning groups and in many other settings.
In an effort to create a supportive and warm learning community, Al haPerek has an internet forum on Matan's website. Participants and program creators discuss questions that arise during learning, investigate other source materials, relate to feedback regarding the program's structure, and much more.

The program costs 350 shekel per year for residents of Israel and $100 for those residing outside of Israel. Please note that the sheets can be ordered in Hebrew, English or both languages for the same price. However, the monthly meetings and yemei iyun currently exist only in Israel and are conducted in Hebrew.
