 Rabbanit Malke Bina, Founder and Chancellor of Matan

 

 

 Dr. Dodi Fishman Tobin, Dean of Students

 

Dr. Tobin holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, an M.A. in Bible from Bar Ilan University, a B.A. in Psychology from Barnard College, and is a graduate of Matan’s Joan and Shael Bellows Masters Program in Bible and Biblical Education.  Dr. Tobin is the Director of Matan Bet Shemesh and the coordinator of the Matan Advanced Tanakh Summer Institute. She teaches at Matan, and lectures throughout Israel and abroad.

 

 

  

  Rabbanit Shani Taragin, Educational Director

 

Rabbanit Shani Taragin completed a B.A. and M.A. in Tanach and Talmud at Bar-IlanUniversity. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D in Tanach while serving as Ram for Tanach in Midreshet Lindenbaum.  Rabbanit Taragin teaches Matan, Migdal Oz, Sha'alvim for Women, Lander's College, and the Womens' Beit Midrash in Efrat and Ramat Shilo. She is a graduate of Nishmat’s Keren Ariel Program for certification as a halachic advisor in issues of family purity law. Rabbanit Taragin lectures and leads Tanach tours throughout Israel and serves on the local religious council dealing with issues of Jewish law and education. 

 

  

  Dr. Bryna Jocheved Levy , Rector

 

Dr. Bryna Jocheved Levy is Founder and Chair of the Bible and Biblical Exegesis program at Matan, and has been teaching Tanakh at Matan for over 25 years.  Dr. Levy is one of the most esteemed Bible teachers in Israel and throughout the world. She is also a leader in the movement for women's Torah studies, and was the first woman awarded a doctoral degree in Biblical Studies by Yeshiva University.  She has created four Torah websites which serve as creative educational tools for learning and teaching the Tanakh (www.brynalevy.com). Dr. Levy also runs “Matan Toratenu” a unique Beit Midrash program focusing upon Tanakh and the Arts.  Her book Waiting for Rain: Reflections at the Turning of the Year  has recently been published in Hebrew. She is currently completing Shaare Nechama, Machzorim with the commentary of Prof. Nechama Leibowitz Z"L..
