Course Description
In Beginners’ Gemara we will work on developing Gemara learning skills through exploration of Sanhedrin Perek 8. Some of the sugyot we will learn and analyze include Self Defense, putting your life on the line and Kiddush Hashem.

About the Educator Dena Block
is serves a Yoetzet Halacha for Congregation Agudath Sholom in Stamford, CT and is the Media and Marketing Consultant for Nishmat's Miriam Glaubach Center where she creates content for Nishmat's Yoatzot Halacha social media. Prior to her aliyah, she taught Gemara and Halacha at Ma'ayanot Yeshiva High School in Teaneck, NJ and was the Director of Admissions there. She has a BA from Barnard College, an MA in Medieval Jewish History from Yeshiva University's Bernard Revel Graduate School for Jewish Studies, an MA in Biblical and Talmudic Interpretation from Yeshiva University's Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Studies, and certification as a Yoetzet Halacha from Nishmat's Miriam Glaubach Center's Yoatzot Halacha Fellowship Program. She currently lives in Ra'anana with her husband and 4 kids. Dean teaches a beginners Gemara class in Matan HaSharon's Beit Midrash Erev.
