Contemporary Halakhic Dilemmas: Halakhic Responses to Modern Quandaries

Course Description

As technology and science advance over time, challenging halakhic situations arise which require Halakha to provide a response. In this course we will analyze how Halakha adapts and evolves to provide solutions to such conundrums.

We will be exposed to the flexibility of Halakha and its nuanced wisdom in many interesting, relevant situations including traveling to dying relatives on Shabbat, plastic surgery, intellectual property and relationships with non-Jews.

About the Educator Yudit Samad

has a law degree in University College London, qualified as an ICAEW Chartered accountant and ran the women's bet midrash in London. She is a Halakhic advisor in Lechu Neranana Synagogue in Raanana and is giving a course in Practical Halakha at Matan HaSharon.
