Course Description
The story of Shemot and Megillat Esther are paradigmatic stories about the birth and rebirth of the Jewish people, as well as the nature of antisemitism, Jewish identity, the relationship between diaspora and homeland, and the repeated resilience of the Jewish people. Through literary analysis and the lens of midrash, we will explore how these become the foundational stories for understanding some of the most pressing issues in our world today and a source of hope for the future.
