Course Description
Using key Talmudic and Midrashic passages, we will explore the historical, philosophical, and spiritual underpinnings that defined the rabbinic world from the Destruction of the Second Temple through the simultaneous blossoming of Jewish life in Babylonia. We will try to understand the Jewish experience in Antiquity through the perspective of 6 key women from this period (inspired by the recent analysis published by Gila Fine).
