Course Objectives: The study of philosophy was a centerpiece of Jewish education for many centuries, serving to both teach critical thinking skills, as well as develop the foundations of Jewish belief. As challenges to the rationale for Jewish faith have continually been on the rise, it becomes as important as ever to understand the philosophical underpinnings of Judaism. Covering some of the most basic topics such as God, Dualism, Free will, Ethics, as well as Religion and Science, we will investigate the range of arguments from the classical to modern era.
